A Poem: One Wave at a Time

3/20/25, 7:06 am

One wave at a time…
Faithfully rolling unto the shore
Hitting the rocky bedrock
Bringing healing as I sit and watch.
For hours.
Each time a little piece of hope
Delivered in the rhythm of the waves
Reminds me God is faithful.
Such needed blessing
During these times of uncertainty.
I am grateful to be on the shore of Lake Superior,
Doing nothing,
Watching the waves roll in.
One blessing at a time.

  1. Your poem refreshes my Hope for living, one wave at a time, seeing that life continues even when Hope is shaky. Perfect poem for these days.

    1. Thank you Suzanne.
You get to see the waves of the big lake a lot more than we do. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Beautiful poem๐Ÿคฉ I can see you sitting there by the shoreline watching the waves rolling in. Would have loved to be there with you๐Ÿฅฐ

    1. Thank you Kari.
It would be fun to be up there together with you sometime.
Grandma Elizabeth was known to love it up there – it reminded her of Norway.
Maybe that’s why I like it so much. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1. Hopefully we will be up there together some time๐Ÿ™๐Ÿคฉ We went up there in 2017 and your grandmother eas right, it looks a bit like Norway๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ด Could be the reason you like it so much also๐Ÿฅฐ

    1. Thank you Audrey.
The words flowed onto the page.
Usually poems don’t come easy to me, if at all. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. Valerie, this poem and those photos fed my soul. What an exquisitely simple yet deeply moving moment for you. Or, I guess, collection of moments. And with this blog, you shared a bit of that joy with all of us. Thank you!
