Emmaus Church

We attended church yesterday… for the first time since March 0f 2020 when Covid-19 shut everything down. We wore our masks and social-distanced ourselves inside the sanctuary, but the energy was there…the Spirit of God was there… building us up, and it was good to be together again.

The welcome entrance to our church.

Since we’ve been gone some updates took place…the sanctuary was painted, the podium platform was raised 10″ for better viewing, we got new, more comfortable chairs and brand new carpet…it looks great! And seeing it filled with people was even greater.

It will probably one of those first times, always remembered, as to what it was like – attending church for the first time after a pandemic.

I’m thinking God saw it and thought it was good.

  1. We, too, attended church services for the first time in 14 months on Sunday, since we are now fully vaccine protected. It was good to be back.

That said, our church is considering following the new CDC (un) masking guidelines and I’m uncomfortable with that given I don’t trust that unvaccinated individuals will wear face masks. So I may not return to church for services, at least not until more people are vaccinated and I feel like we are really done with this pandemic. My primary concern is for the kids.

    1. It will be interesting to see what will happen at our church too. The council meets on the 24th and they will decide the next steps.

  2. Isn’t it a joy! We have been attending our church for a couple of months now but with masks on, sitting in every other pew and unrelated people six feet or more apart. We are ushered in and out
and are not to talk in the church narthex but outdoors. Our church is
small though and I’m sure it wouldn’t have worked for Emmaus and other large congregations. Yesterday was the first time we could unmask in place but putting them back on while leaving! God is good and we’ve learned many lessons over this past year on trusting his will!

    1. It was so beautiful on Sunday – we were able to have coffee and visit with others after the service. It was so nice.
