I have had a series of annual check-ups recently; dentist, mammogram, eye doctor, lab work and a wellness visit with my physician. All have gone well…I may need cataract surgery…but that’s to be expected at my age I guess.
As I’m driving to my appointments, I think about those folks in countries where they walk a long distance to get health care, and/or wait in long lines to see a health care professional, and/or do not even attempt to go because they cannot afford the services. I think about such things and am very grateful for affordable, accessible healthcare, right here within minutes of my home. I don’t want to take it for granted. What a blessing it is. I am grateful.
Yes- how fortunate we are.
I like the daily reminder sign. 😉
That’s an inspiring quote to have before you each day.
I am grateful to FINALLY be on Medicare, to have affordable health insurance that I can use rather than the unaffordable health insurance I’ve had for way too long and that I couldn’t use because of too-high deductibles. Forking out about $25K a year in health insurance premiums was (is) beyond ridiculous. So, yes, I feel grateful that I can now afford healthcare.
One area in which we need more providers, especially in greater Minnesota, is in mental health. No one should be told they must wait SIX WEEKS to see a provider when they needed to see one YESTERDAY.
You’re right about the mental health aspect of healthcare. We do need more providers…people who need help need it now, and can’t wait six weeks.
I’m thankful you are on Medicare now. I know you were paying such high premiums before you were eligible.
Thank you for that. Better to be grateful than bitter.
Yes, I agree Barb.
