A mourning dove, I affectionately named Miss Dove, has a nest with two eggs in the honeysuckle vine growing on the trellis on our back deck. I step outside daily to say good morning to her and she has grown accustomed to me tending my flowers and changing the nectar in the hummingbird feeder that hangs right below her. She has hatched her two eggs. Now there are three crowded into their little nest and it’s a precious sight to see.
Although she let’s me come close it’s still hard to capture a good photo with the branches in the way.
Welcome little ones.
Awesome! Spring, new life in birds and flowers. We had a teeny Bambi in our yard Saturday! We saw the mother come for it, saw Bambi take a few steps and nurse! They left for a new hiding place.
That would be fun to see.
Oh, the sweetness of baby birds…
They are sweet, and the same is true for most baby animals and humans! HA
Beautiful! Amazing how they come to know and trust you!
A friend has a cardinal nest in a wreath on their door – the birds fly when other people come but not when they do…
That is a fun story… I am surprised, but glad, at the trust the birds exhibit.
I am sitting outside right now on my patio watching the birds come to my bird feeder. I don’t seem to get any goldfinches, but a friend just told me to get a little sack Goldfinch feeder, so I’m going to try that. I too love watching the birds. Thanks so much for sharing, Valerie!
Once you get that thistle seed up, the finches will come!
How fun to be able watch these little babies grow right on your deck. I can understand why mama dove trusts your gentle voice and spirit. Enjoy 😊 and thanks for sharing.
