I saw my first robin on Sunday afternoon, along Jefferson Road. This is my first sighting this spring, and then I saw two more.
After an evening walk, not in the dark because of daylight savings time (another sign of spring), I saw two robins in our neighbor’s tree. I looked through our binoculars to confirm. They were a pair.
Other signs of spring on my walk: the snow is melting (and a lot more snow will melt this week when the sun comes out and the temperatures rise into 50*’s) and there was no ice on the paths. However, there were lots of puddles.
I heard many birds chirping, and I heard water gurgling… both wonderful sounds… and I saw a few ducks already enjoying the thawed portions of the pond.
Spring brings hope once again.
*I’m not sure foxes are a sign of spring but Saturday evening while it was dark, before daylight savings time began, we watched a fox walk down a city sidewalk and cross the street in front of us…I think he was lost.*
There really are signs of spring everywhere, aren’t there? I stepped outside last week and heard a cardinal.
I’m excited you saw a fox. I have not seen the one in our neighborhood again since that single spotting several weeks ago. That’s a fantastic close-up photo of a fox. And you’re right about the animal not looking particularly healthy.
I love the cardinal. We have a pair that spend the winter at our bird feeder outside our window.
I wonder why foxes are in the cities these days? I know a friend who saw one in Bloomington recently, too.
I, too, saw a fox on our street, but it was during the deep of winter. Jack and I were driving home in the evening and it crossed the street right in front of us in a wooded area near our house. We were both so excited. We have been watching in the area ever since, but have never seen another one.
I love how spring-like it feels! Makes me happy!
I guess they are not a sign of spring. HA But foxes are fun to see.
Spring makes me happy too.
About a month ago we saw a fox on the wooded hillside behind our home. I, too, have watched for it since, but have not seen the fox.
Randy, however, saw tracks across the snow leading to a pile of bunny fur on our driveway behind our van. There was nothing gross (thankfully), but it was obvious that the fox had snatched a bunny.
Maybe you and Sheri are seeing the same fox in Faribault?
