The historic river inn in Northfield caught on fire last night, about 5 o’clock. This morning fire trucks continue to pour water on the building and smoke still billows in the air.
What a tragic loss for our town…the beloved Archer House, opened 1877.
Oh, how sad! Such a beautiful building. Will it be a total loss or do you think they might be able to salvage some of the building?
We don’t know at this point. I hope so!
This is devastating. Such a beautiful, historic landmark in downtown Northfield. Randy drove by this morning before work and said the building was still smoking. He sent pix showing that. I do hope some of it can be saved.
I hope so too.
My photos are from this morning too.
So sorry to hear this, Val. Such a beautiful building full of history and stories. I hope restoration will be possible.
I hope so too…it was on the National Register of Historic Places…
Memories of a long long ago visit when my husband packed clothes for me for a surprise trip to the Archer House… (the time there was fun as well as seeing what he thought I needed : )
Keep us posted on whether it can be saved…
If memory serves me correctly, I watched the boys while you and Ron went on the get away. 😉
So sad to read this Valerie😢
Beautiful old buildings🤣🙌
Do they know what caused it to burn?
Will it be possible to rebuild it? Will probably not be the same though😢
There was a fire in the kitchen in one of the three restaurants in the building.
It is so sad. They have not determined if it will be rebuilt.
You and Bente and me were in there when you visited us in Northfield.
