Minnesota Twins

I don’t consider myself a sports fan. I may watch a couple of football games during the winter, and we usually watch the Super Bowl, but that’s about it.

Target Field, downtown Minneapolis.

But, the other evening, friends called and said they had been given four free tickets to the Minnesota Twins game and wondered if we wanted to join them.

The man in the purple shirt, near center, sang the National Anthem.

We did, and it ended up being a beautiful night for sitting outdoors and watching baseball.

The baseball stadium filling up with fans.

We had good seats…and that made a big difference from other other games we’ve attended over the years, when we’ve been mostly in the upper-deck stadium seats.  This evening we were eight rows back, between home-plate and first base. We could see the players well.

We had wonderful seats. We found it interesting to see the condo across the field, near third base, being built.

The Twins won by getting one run in the 8th inning, and the other team, the Cleveland Guardians, did not score at all. Baseball can be a lot of waiting for spurts of excitement. I’m glad we won.

I’m not sure why the bear mascot, but he was fun to watch and he churned up the crowd.

In 1987 and 1991 the Minnesota Twins did well and went to the World Series. We did not attend a World Series game, but we did go to a couple games during the respective seasons. We bought Homer Hankies as a remembrance of those games. I wonder if they are worth anything now???

Our Homer Hankies from 1987 and 1991 Minnesota Twins.

There were a lot of fans at the Minnesota Twins game, and they’ll be back. We had a good time, but I’m not sure I will be back this year.

Minnesota Twins

I’m not really a sports fan. I will watch an occasional football game and we always watch the Superbowl game but rarely will I watch baseball or basketball on TV, unless they are play-off games…those games can be exciting. But we had an opportunity to go to the Minnesota Twins baseball game over the weekend, and it was fun. It seems the Minnesota Twins team is headed towards the play-offs this year. They are playing really well.

Go Twins!!!

The tickets were free and the seats were good…in the shaded, lower section, first-base side of the field. The weather was fabulous! A beautiful Spring day and a super day to be outside. A great day to watch an outdoor baseball game in Minnesota. .

So off we went to, apparently, a sell-out crowd at Target Field. It took a long time to get through security check and into the stadium. We were outside the gates before the game began but missed the first inning because of the long lines to get in, and get through security. That was surprising.

The Twins played the Chicago White Sox and won! The score was 7-0 and there were two homeruns. It was fun to watch the game and even more fun to watch the people.

Future Minnesota Twin player?

But one of the best parts for me was holding a two-month old baby! The little one was part of family we knew sitting in seats in front of us. I offered to hold the baby and was able to, for a good amount of time. I think I might have enjoyed that most of all.
