Lilacs

We’re just past the blooming season of lilacs. Below are three haikus about the delightful spring flower.

  1. Lilacs always bring me back to my childhood. We had a huge lilac bush between our house and our neighbor’s. During May my sister Ann and I would set up an altar in our bedroom to celebrate the Virgin Mary with a statue of her and huge bouquets of lilacs! Our room smelled so incredible!!
Thank you for sharing your post Valerie!

    1. Thanks for sharing that fun story, Mary Jane.
I loved hearing about you as a little girl!

  2. I want to buy one of the very best lilac bushes available. Does anyone have a recommendation of who has THE REAL VERY BEST LILACS FOR SALE ?

  3. Thanks for sharing these haikus about one of my favorite flowers. Usually Randy brings me sweeping lilac bouquets each spring. But, alas, the city of Faribault cut down the bushes so no source of lilacs. I have no idea why, because the lengthy row of lilacs looked beautiful and healthy.

  4. I think almost everyone has a visceral response to the smell of lilacs. It is such a distinctive smell and there is such a short window to enjoy it. I loved the photos you chose to share, Valerie!
