Time to Say Goodbye

The time came to say goodbye to our son and daughter-in-love and two beautiful grandchildren.

They were here and enjoyed decorating the Christmas tree.

They were here and enjoyed rolling out and cutting out and decorating gingerbread cookies.

They were here and enjoyed decorating graham cracker houses.

Mom and Dad’s.
Zoey and Grandma’s.
Ezra and Grandpa’s.

They were here and enjoyed playing in the snow and building a snow fort.

Loved playing in the snow fort.

Peeking through the windows in the fort.

They were here bringing much joy.

Now the cookies have all been eaten.

The tree trimmings have all been put away.

We have been “charged” to take care of the snow fort as they head back to their home.

But the wonderful decorated houses will remain on our dining room table to remind us of the fabulous time we had together.

It was hard to say goodbye.

So grateful for our time together.

  1. Such great memories. The house will seem so quiet and empty now but there is always the next time. Have a happy new year.

  2. Such wonderful memory maker times for both them and you!

I am wondering how you got the gingerbread houses to stay together?
You must have a secret as my event with my grandson’s was a wonderful fun time – but the gingerbread house ended up getting eaten as the walls kept tumbling down 🙂 ?

    1. I’m sure your gingerbread house making was memorable!
But, I can give you my frosting recipe.;-)

  3. What fun memories you made. Even though my grandkidies are grown I love doing things with them still.

  4. You created such terrific memories for them and they will remember their trip to their grandparents in years to come. Nothing beats making gingerbread cookies or houses with grandchildren. I used to so enjoy this. I’m sure they are all very thankful to have you and Gary in their lives!

    1. I hope they remember their trips to MN.
They seemed excited to be here and seemed to enjoy staying with us.

  5. The final photo brought tears to my eyes. What engaging and tender memories you created for your grandchildren. Lovely.

  6. Oh this is so precious ! I sent it to my daughters in Seattle with a message
“ I wish my family was close enough
So this would be possible ! What a
    blessing for all of you.

  7. Looks like you had so much fun Valerie and good times with your son and daughter in law and your darling grandchildren ❤️🥰
So nice that you could be together for christmas and enjoy making gingerbread cookies and nicely decorated houses🤣
Lisa and I made the Eifel Tower from ginger bread and we were pretty proud of that because it turned out pretty nice🙌🙌

    1. Thanks for the photo of your Eifel Tower made of gingerbread. It was very impressive!!!
Sounds like your holidays were enjoyable too.

  8. Love the gingerbread houses. One of our favorite Christmas memories was having a contest ( 2 teams of 4) to make and decorate gingerbread houses using graham crackers. Fun to look at the pictures though one has left our family through divorce.

    1. We would decorate these houses when my sons were little. Also made gingerbread manger scenes.
It does create fond memories for lots of people. 😉
